RYE NECK PTSA ADVOCACY PROUDLY PRESENTS:

THE 1st ANNUAL STUDENT LEADERSHIP AND ADVOCACY CONFERENCE

  

This exciting new opportunity for high school student leaders from across Westchester and Putnam Counties to network and learn about what advocacy is and how the needle of change is moved within their district and beyond.  Students will have an opportunity to create an issue-based actionable plan to implement within their home district.  

Attendees will be chosen based on an essay submission.


Each district’s PTA will work with their district’s principal to select a team of four student leaders - one from each grade, 9-12.


Schedule: 

9:30 - Welcome & Conference Kick-off


10:00 - Professional Training Sessions (all students will attend all sessions) 


Session 1 -- Leadership is an Action Word

Session 2 -- Advocate like a Pro 

Session 3 -- Integrity, Digital Citizenship, and Netiquette 


12:00 - Lunch and Keynote Address by Senator Shelley Mayer 

1:00 - Afternoon Roundtables (students will choose 1) 

  1. Safety Evolution:  Where is progress being made?
  2. Inhale the Truth - Where’s the plan?  -
  3. From the Inside Out:  Are schools successful in providing positive mental health initiatives?
  4. Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness:  Identity, sexuality and gender equality in your school


3:00 - Wrap Up  

Registration Packets will be delivered to all school districts starting September 9th.
